Re: Looking for a 550 Ultra or Classic - Pittsburgh

    Eric-n-Joan,
I'm figuring the travel to pick-up amounts to being just another "adventure weekend" ... granted costs of gas, mileage, etc. is a true cost, but one that I would incur if I were simply camping that weekend anyway ... so, I'm disregarding that with respect to the purchase expense (so long as I don't have to travel 3000 miles across the country). That said, I'm just not seeing anything come available - all you Camp-Inn owners seem to love your teardrops so much that no one is ready/willing to give them up. I'm sure that also explains why they seem to maintain their values so well - yet another reason I like about them! ... Thanks, everyone, for your thoughts and insights. Regards, -Dan

Yup, Dan, our +4000-mile round-trip to pick up a 6 year old 550 Classic was indeed an excellent Winter adventure. And double-yup, CI owners pamper their TD's, all my friends and neighbors think our Vuggie is brand new. When I hit Necedah to get a bumper installed, Cary and Marty both said "Welcome to the family." CI treated us used buyers just like new buyers. Be patient--we waited over 6 months for ours. Regards, T

... camp-out on the way there ... Camp-Inn on the way back ... both ways an adventure! And ... to your point ... Cary has been very respectful of my inquiries - what a great way to build confidence and marketability for your product! I can think of a few other businesses that could learn from them.

We won't get our trailer until late summer but it is comforting to know that the CI's are so hightly valued and apparently hold that value for a good while. We were originaly looking at high end pop up campers. The best out there were pretty flimsy and had a cheap feel about them. Their value drops by one third as soon as you leave the dealer and by half after a year or so. I have yet to see a CI trailer in person but already feel I have made a great investment.

Hi Bear ... wow ... sorry to say, but it sounds like a bit more of a "project" than I'd be willing to take on. Thanks for being forthright and upfront ... and, if I can't find something else, I may yet be back in touch. Regards, -Dan

To all my forum friends ... I am now the proud owner of "the Foxtail" ... 2011 560 Ultra SUV (#485)... traveled 1300 miles round trip for it and paid way more than I'd hoped, but am happy with the deal ... its got everything I wanted, plus a ton more ... tows like a cloud ... and, most importantly, my wife loves it! Thanks everyone for your help and advice. Regards, -Dan
