Well, if you mean after you already have your camper, I don't think so. The CampInn folks can answer that better. If you mean after you order a new camper, I think it can be added within a certain amount of time. Again, I'm sure the people at CampInn will jump in here and give you better answers.

    Miki,

Due to the amount of work involved, the SUV option is not able to be added to an existing Camp-Inn.

Check out the For Sale section. Brian & Julie have a 550 Ultra for sale (I believe it has not yet been sold). It has the Off-Road package (which we no longer offer). It has more ground clearance than the SUV option & has a beefier frame.

Do you think the SUV package is worse on fuel economy? Mine is standard height and Bear is right, I've got it through some pretty nasty 'roads'.

I like the fact that the SUV adds the several inches in height to the galley counter - it makes it easier on the back. Also, the top of the opened hatch barely misses my head with the SUV option(I'm 6'). It'd be great if you could 'try' them both to see how they fit you.

That's a great point. I am always looking for the site that slopes back. That way I can drop the tongue and the galley hatch is nice and tall.

I like the SUV option, extra height is back friendly!

Amen. The higher frame also enables one to store small Rubbermaid Action Packer's under the Teardrop while camped.

I was disappointed to hear the SUV Package is no longer available. The SUV option was a major factor in my purchase decision.

I agree with you that many folks can enjoy their travels without the SUV options. Then there are a small number of us who enjoy a different adventure. We too prefer establishing a Base Camp and exploring the desert (Mojave, Anza Borrego, Sonora) Primarily looking for Petroglyphs.

As you probably know, crossing dry washes can be challenging as can using dry washes as "roads" can be challenging. Under such conditions there can be bottoming of the nose wheel and there can twisting. The tougher the frame and suspension, the better for us.

BTW, in the opening image sequence on the Camp-Inn web site, there is an image of a teardrop preceding up an unimproved road. I don't know where the image was take, but it is similar to many "roads" found in the Mojave Desert.

BTW, lack of height for the Galley can be resolved by placing RV leveling blocks under the wheels.

    Happy Trails

SUV package no longer available? Are you sure?

It is still available. Accounts for about 95% of our orders actually. What was mentioned earlier was the Extreme off road option we used to offer years ago. That has not been offered for many years. The SUV off road option just was way more popular.

Recently I had to really gun my vehicle over a washout ditch to beat some oncoming traffic, and my trailer ended up dropping and bouncing around to a terrible extent. I was really glad to have the extra height of the SUV package at that unplanned moment.

Also, even though we are short people, I can't imagine not having the extra counter and table height.

    Hi, Cary

Thanks for the clarification. I can understand why the SUV edition is so overwhelmingly popular.

    Happy Manufacturing.

    >>> You bet!

    >>> I've encountered a few road surprises myself...usually in the form of "man eating pot holes".

    >>> I too find the Galley a little low for food preparation and I'm 6'. Sometimes I use the rear stabilizers to lift the Galley a couple of inches.
