Yes, Jim does custom build the knife blocks. He has already made a couple for some of our forum members. If you are interested, just send us a private message.

The spice rack looks great, Jim. Quick question--do you store the spices on the rack in transit? If so, any problems with the magnet losing hold and them falling off? Beautiful work on both the knife block and the rack!

I've got Jim's custom knife block. It was extra custom for me to avoid my speakers. Beautiful work - thanks again Jim!

Thanks! Yes, spices are stored in transit. Magnets are strong and haven't had any become dislodged. Jim installed the sheet metal, and the wood blocks to hold them. We do remove the spices when we get home though, since heat and humidity are not kind to them. We found ours as a set at Costco a while back, but you can buy the canisters individually from Bed Bath & Beyond. Be careful when handling them though. I ended up with a nice slice and 4 stitches in my fingertip when I popped out the plastic top on the lid and was washing it. The edge on the inside of the lid is extremely sharp.

I wish 'they' would make up their mind because I thought 'they' said Velcro is the future

Hmmmm....... no doubt that velcro is someone's future, it just isn't mine.

Way too noisy and wears out too quickly.

Magnets OTOH, will generally last a life time. No doubt you, or someone here could prove me wrong, but they would really have to try hard (to destroy the magnets). :)
