I thought we would put our first year of teardrop experience in a video. Click this link for a 10 min. trip from when we went to visit the "nest" thru our last outing. Enjoy!

Thanks for all your kind comments. This year we plan to follow U.S. Route 89 from Canada to Mexico and take all the time we need. Charlie, Maine was our most favorite. Our base camp was on Ripley Neck near Harrington and Cherryfield. Went as far north (East) as Lubec and S.to Acadia.

Really enjoyed the video. But the "night visitor" sparked some comments from Carol. She said "that isn't a bear paw print, is it?". Of course not I said, Dave and Rene are still here to finish the video. I said it must be chipmonk prints, right?

There was a lot of racoon activity in the area and I saw one look in the screen while rene was asleep. I shined a light on that one and he took off. I closed the doors when I went to bed and later in the night after a steady rain we woke up to a thump and wondered about it and went back to sleep. We found the marks next morning plus one on the side by the door. Good thing we didn't sleep with the door open that night.

Which brings me back to a post I made yesterday about traveling with a cat. Obviously there is not room (or desire) for an overnight litter box INSIDE the CI. I was thinking the answer was the side tent. Keep the box in there and keep the door cracked open. So you saw a racoon looking in your screen door??? That may put the kabosh on that idea. So then what.........
    Ideas are welcome!
I do remember camping in the Keys way back when. We had a van and slept inside with homemade screens to keep out the bugs but let the air in. One night we heard a racket outside the back of the van .... but it was actually inside the back of the van. I peaked over the back seat and came eye ball to eye ball with a masked stranger. I yelled, he hissed, Carol cussed and the next trip to the Keys was spent in motels!

Somebody in a homebuilt teardrop at IRG had converted one of the kitchen cupboards to a litter box with a pass thru into the cabin for the cat. She won the 'best idea' award that year.

Perhaps this could be done with a Camp-Inn as well.
