    Greetings all!

This is to announce the adoption of the former “bed4two”, now rechristened the “Foc’sle”. For all you landlubbers, the “foc’sle” or forecastle is a nautical term for the crew’s quarters; a very tight space forward and below deck with bunks or hammocks where the crew slept and socialize far away from the more spacious and refined officer’s quarters.

Foc’sle arrived in Maine just before midnight on Leap Day, 2012 after a 21 hour marathon trip from Florida. The trip north was really a race against a major snowstorm that is now swirling around us with 5”+ on the ground and another 6+ to come. Thanks to Cary and his recommendation for a shipper/broker, the folks at First Choice USA found a Maine owner-operator who put Foc’sle on the top deck of the big rig car carrier for the trip north from the swamps and beaches of Florida.

After unloading, Foc’sle went immediately to the car wash for de-icing and cleanup before arriving at home port here in central Maine. Foc’sle will be in “dry dock” while we fit it out and wait for ice out and smooth sailing weather.

After having been a lurker on this site for some time, we can now join to share our adventures and experiences. This site has been an inspiration and has spurred us on in our quest to find the right rig. Many thanks to all who have shared ideas and adventures! It’s an honor to now be a part of the group.

We’ve been exploring our beautiful state of Maine for 30+ years and Foc’sle will be a welcome base of operations to improve on the tents and tarps in the attic. Maine has so many beautiful places to visit…all along our rocky coast from Acadia National park to the majestic western mountains, with many miles of lakes, rivers and forests. We will be carrying kayaks on our 2010 Subaru Forester with Foc’sle behind.

If others are planning to venture to the northeast and are looking for special places off the beaten track to visit, please drop us a line so we can help you find what you are looking for.

MaineGuide, Welcome Main should be a wonderful place for a Camp-Inn.

Congratulations. We had a lovely visit to Maine in October - a beautiful place! You will have such a good time with your new trailer! Be sure to let us know if you have intentions of visiting the Pacific northwest - your trailer has a fair number of "cousins" on this side of the country. Kathy

Kudos on you adoption and welcome aboard the forum!

Have a blast tricking out your new baby. When you've done that and gassed up the TV, you'll be all set for a glorious adventure. All you'll need then is a place to park. Well, that plus a pitcher of beer and a bucket of steamers.

    Just sayin'..........
