6F with a steady 10 mph wind. No new snow however the existing snow is drifting. Still dark but it looks like I’m going to need to plow the driveway again.

I don’t remember reading about drifting snow in the Wisconsin Move Here brochure!

Almost wet camping tonight. Was minutes away from leaving. But 20 degrees and winds at 20mph is just not conducive...One or the other, but not both :(

    MAYBE next weekend!

New furnace goes in Monday....Pellet stove does a great job of keeping us from freezing, but it is definitely NOT a whole-house solution

1 40 pound bag last about 20 hours, so far

3F and just a slight breeze. Black Rifle coffee in my cup as I wait for the sun to show its face.

Sunny and 53 after a great 2 day storm. My daughter was camping in the back of my Tacoma this weekend. She took our Coleman Mountainview tent. A big storm with high winds came in on Friday night, and she said in the morning the tent was gone! They eventually found it and said it sustained minor tears. It was well-staked as I put it up for her. I even put some hefty lag bolts in with my impact driver. I think the wind shifted and got around to the sides without the panels and lifted it up like the big sail that it is.

Still without heat here, except for our pellet stove -- 19 degrees this morning and a daytime high in the 40s. I broke down and winterized the camper, I'll have to leave it out overnight so the installers will have access in the morning.

I ALMOST went camping last night for a 1 nighter -- We'll see what happens next weekend - There's still a chance for 1 more this year ;)

59F in Oak Ridge, KY. Sure glad to leave Ogema, WI and their 3F weather. Next stop Atlanta, GA then on to Daytona Beach, FL.

3f. Yikes. Ain't nobody got time for that!

I'm envious of your travel direction! We did some looking hoping to find some Florida location, but gave up --- apparently the "no vacancy" sign on the welcome center is still up.

If you're meandering a little and want to stop along the way, there are a few places I either want to or always stop at.

If you're traveling and looking for a stop, the filming location for "Fried Green Tomatoes" is not too far off your path, just north of Macon in Juliette GA. The Whistle Stop Cafe embraces the film for obvious reasons :) The Whistle Stop Cafe

I hate KOA with a passion. However, there are 2 that break the rule. The KOA in Forsyth is my usual stop when heading south. Leaving here in the morning, we get there by late afternoon. The KOA is surprisingly welcoming...they really do a lot to make you feel welcome, including delivering warm cookies to your camp site after you get check in :) At least they did every time we've stayed. Very easy to get back on the road in the morning. The other is in Yamassee South Carolina. Yamassee almost reminded me of a state park when we were there...they allowed us to set up in one of their tent sites as a reservation laste minute arrival -- if we could fit -- we did.

South of Macon (quite a bit, near the state line) is Carroll's Sausage (Carroll's Sausage & Country Store) --- this is located right next to where "the worlds largest peanut" was before it was destroyed by a hurricane years ago. There is/was an effort to rebuild it. Carrolls, I assume, owned it - not sure. Regardless, the meat market is THE place we stop on every trip. Their meats are REALLY good.

Buc-ees are there now, same general area...if you need gas and to fill the biological tank :) The BBQ isn't the best, but not as bad as you'd expect from a gas station

Once you get into Florida, Doc Hollywood is one of my favorite movies --- much the same as Fried Green Tomatoes. While the sets are gone the feeling in the town is there. Its a town that time forgot...and worth a stop, if anything just as a quick walking tour....Micanopy Florida. Pronouned MyCanOPee. Its just a few minutes off 75.

    Safe travels!

    We se
We second the KOA in Yemassee SC. The owner and hosts are very friendly. Most of the sites are larger than found at most KOAs. In the evening, they have a happy hour in the community building with a decent selection of wines. They will even deliver you a breakfast pizza in the morning. We have made it a stop when traveling.

NICE! Its good to know, personally I like the cookies (which are WAAAAAY off my Keto Diet) in Forsyth :)

I was looking to see what I can find in Florida in Jan/Feb --- sadly not much. At my "Hidden hideaway" sold to a private owner who doesn't want to rent sites....damn.

Can't recall the place --- it is on the intercoastal --- PJ's? The thing I remember is the 'aquarium' --- clear tubes --- that run around the bar and inside dining area.

EDIT: I think it is now "Outriggers Bar & Grill"

My inlaws used to live in that area --- it was nice visiting them. :D

    Hmm....

Sounds like Outriggers which is at New Smyrna Beach which is 45 min south of us. The Ice House and Salt Life are very popular at St. Augustine.

Day 3: Here Norma (alias Miss Daisy) is enjoying a latte at one of our many stops. I got her addicted to them and now she points out all the coffee stops.

We are now in Atlanta and will stay for two nights in her nephew’s southern plantation mansion. Okay so it’s just a really nice house in a new development. It does approach mansion in size.
