Sounds like fun. I love the small town or regional festivals.

For several years we ran a Kettle Corn Concession, we did OK. But we got to the point where we needed to "go big, or go home" and going big just didn't seem to work. I wish I had done that, well I did until 2020. We would have been financially devastated.

I miss those shows. LOTS of work. Some really good festival organizers. We stayed in Indiana mostly -- but New Carlisle Days, Archway Fesetival, Greenwood Freedom Festival amazing. Ironically, the WORST event we did was the "Popcorn Fesetival"

Hatch Chili's for the uninitiated are not that hot, but the flavor they impart is pretty amazing. If you can find them pick up a jar you will be rewarded. I was introduced to them about 4 years ago when my brother in law found them at costco --- he only found out about them because of his travels in business.

 

Kind of a lazy Saturday here. I should be on the tractor but my arm is a little sore from the shingles shot yesterday. Plus I’m retired and every day is Saturday.

 

Rub it in Every time I look at the gas pump and the 401k/IRA - I wonder if I'm ever going to be able to say that

We went camping this weekend -- Nothing terribly exciting, the former Indiana Tear Jerkers got together. I say former simply becuase most of the campers have left teardrops behind and "upgraded" to larger rigs. Some still small(ish) but most to full size trailers.

We arrived Friday and were greeted by a muddy, soppy camp site. Most of the gravel had washed away or sunk into the mud probably 2 years ago.....

Friday night into Saturday only light rain for an hour was forecast --- but that turned into a nice thunderstorm that rolled on early morning (still dark outside) until about 10:30 am. We need the rain, I'm really not complaining about it -- but it would have been nice for a 48 hour reprieve.

Saturday early afternoon we had a beautiful sky for about 3-4 hours - it was warm, but not terribly humid. Sunday morning, we woke and I got outside and was able to get a radar image...we started packing immediately. Another large system was moving through in about an hour.

The ARB awning faced its first trial by fire saturday night. I'm confident the brand CI sells would do equally well, they are similar if not identical design. We just dropped 1 of the exterior legs to its lowest and the water rolled off without puddling. The side room worked as well as I would expect -- little pooling in the low corner. Its a tent, not a house, adding a big sponge to "bilge out" the tent if needed...

So...come home, cut grass, clean the gear...pack it all back up and get ready to try again

 

Not a Camp Inn but still pretty cool. Just picked up an Escape 15a. There were only 57 of these produced between 2010 - 2015. This is all electric with a compressor AC/DC refrigerator, electric heater, AC, maxx fan. We like propane for cooking outside so I need to talk to Cary about a propane tank and holder (put my 550 on there)
These are made in Canada and are a 2 piece fiberglass.

 

We looked at them fiberglass -- the only trouble was I am 6' 3" and just couldn't find one I fit it....congratulations. These have some of the many benefits that teardrops do...Low maintenance being the biggest one....

 

Nice. I really like it.

 

We have the 21C model. Looking forward to getting our 560 on order in September 2023.

 

I wanted the 17 or 19. Had to compromise with the wife. I love to be outside.

 

I would like the 17 for my backyard and as an extra bedroom.

 

I'm sitting at one of the most beautiful state parks in the system. Saturday and Sunday where actually very quiet...only 1 neighbor 3 sites down who was a little loud --- but certainly not enough to complain.

Monday wasn't bad, but Monday night and Tuesday for the first time in about 50 days.....rained heavily! Mostly overnight, but the daytime was sticky and muddy....yesterday was almost unbearably wet. We turned on the AC and heat at the same time just to see who'd win and hopefully dry some air. Overnight a dry air mass moved in, allowing a comfortable morning.

Today, Wednesday, about 80 degrees, and a mix of mostly cloudy and clear skies, producing a dappling of shadows on the forrest floor. Tomorrow is looking nice but maybe a little warm...high around 90, which I'll take --- I can hopefully dry out some tents before we pack them tomorrow night.

We need to make a "repositioning move" for lack of planning on our part. We'll be moving from Brown County State Park to another unnamed location in Indiana.

Tomorrow, we'll head into the village to perhaps grab breakfast --- Diet is on hold this week. Maybe enjoy some biscuits and gravy at a local B&B/hotel --- their attached restaurant is pretty good.

Thursday through Sunday --- No idea. Probably just mourn my birthday (I turn eligible for "55+" communities tomorrow :O )

It's back to work on Monday. I love my job, but hate to think about the changes that are coming as my company reorganizes again (as they do every 18-20 months) with a new manager and all that that entails. Don't get me wrong, I'm thankful for work....I just incredibly over "woke" work places. I guess as long as I can get away with "Qui tacet consentire videtur" it will be OK. But Ask Thomas More how that worked out for him. Ultimately, incredibly well...but in en secula -- there was a little pinch.

Our next major trip will be CICO in September....something I'm really looking forward too. We lit a fire Sunday becuase it was in the low 70's here....I think that is my favorite part about camping....the 50's promised by Wisconsin in September sounds really good right now.

 

First day of school here in SC. Both of us going to new schools this year. Early start to the school year for me ended summer a little sooner this year. Next trip will be to the NASCAR race in Darlington, SC Labor Day Weekend.

I love week day camping! The only sound I hear is the big John Deere ZTR mower cutting grass in the loop next to me.

There are 3 campers within eyeshot, each being more than 300 ft. away from me, all with no cars, and no music. All I hear is the sound of my dog panting, the ticked off squirrel that is throwing nuts at me (seriously), locusts (Cicada's)n in the trees and the rustling of leaves in the breeze.

Sweeney...what did you do to tick off the squirrel?

 

Good question. The DNR says there are a lot of coyotes around here....I don't know if I believe it or not. Personally, I attribute it to sudden onset of diabetes due to marshmallows and somewhat empty beer cans. I am providing neither, so I can assume it is a temper tantrum of squirrel size proportions over lack of sta-puft's at side 326....

 

I bought a few beer signs this summer. This one is hanging in my office. It’s currently unplugged because I need to replace the light with an LED.

I put an LED lights in this one so it doesn’t burn so hot. Plus I can leave it on 24/7.

The one sign in the office has a clock. Funny thing is I collect beer signs and I don’t drink alcohol.

I’m looking at ordering two neon beer signs to put in the window so I can see them from the camping area.
