I don't think that THIS is the most elaborate of all time ...

Definately one of the worst constructed for-sale campaigns...

Yes, all of that story line for this camper is correct. I never got to know Rex very well but Chris I did and he was an amazing guy.

Any chance Connor has some pictures he can post so people know what they are looking at? The pictures in the post now are from that 2005 which was posted back in 2018 so not at all relevant.

Knowing now that it is a 2010 that price is looking correct also by the way.

I am contacting the seller now to ask more questions. I am very interested however my only tow vehicle is a 2015 Honda CRV will this handle a 560?
So this listing seems legit according to the information that has been given?

I received a reply from the ad he said its a 2010 Ultra but it does not have vin# and this vehicle has never been registered

VIN has nothing to do with regirsation. The VIN is a manufacturer number...located on the "A" frame on the driver side.

Depending on where it is owned, not being registered may not be an issue. But it should be titled, or have a certificate of origination. Make sure you check with your state BMV/DMV to see what it would take to register it if you proceed with a purchase.

I have been warned in other forums that trailer registration can be interesting.

OK, this is interesting. In 12 years it has never been registered in CA? How is that possible? We run into this from time to time when a person buys a Camp-Inn second hand where the person who sold it never got around to registering in their state. If it is staying in the same state it might not be a huge issue because the DMV will be able to get it all caught up to present. But, if you are buying it as a second or third owner and moving it to another state you will have big issues registering it because your state will see it as unpaid sales taxes owed. And your DMV will not be able to do anything or register it until everything is taken care of in the previous owner's state. So, in other words you best not buy a camper from a person in a another state that has not been registered. If buying this camper from Connor make sure he registers it in CA and all remaining sales taxes to CA are paid before you purchase it. This is super important or you won't be able to register it back at home.

Honda CRV. These have a 1500lb tow rating which works great with the 550 series camper we make. However for the 560 series we want to see a 1650lb or better tow capacity. I would not recommend towing a 560 with a CRV.

Sorry I am so full of bad news today.

Oh, and as Sweeney already pointed out. The camper has a VIN. They have to at the factory and is on the VIN tag on the frame.. The title is what he is probably referring to. Make sure it has a clean CA title in hand before purchasing. All too often we get someone contacting us that just bought a used Camp-Inn but the title was lost. They are hoping we can help. No, we cannot help with a lost title. Only the person who lost the title can by contacting the DMV in their state to file for a lost title. The new owner cannot so they have to work hard with the seller to sort out. Sometimes the seller is not willing to help.

I wonder if it was moved to Cali just as part of the estate...and was never titled in ca becuase it just got there....but this would only further make a lost title recovery even more difficult since you are dealing with a deceased owner passing to an estate....yuck

On the title scrubbing --- I have never done this, and only know of it by talking to people who've done it...Apparently Maine used to be somewhat laxidaisical when it comes to trailers and titles. Again, this is WAYYYY back in the day (2010/2011) when teardrops were mostly home made and often build on "Donor" frames....people would run the titles through Maine .... but I'm not an expert on this subject, and am pretty sure I don't want to be

I think given the long distance and all the uncertainty I will just keep looking for my camper on here. Thank you all for the help and advice. I appreciate it!

This camper did spend it's whole life in CA. All three owners to this point - CA. Because the first owner Rex passed away and his close friend Chris ended up with the camper then Chris passed away years later it is very possible it never was registered because of the deaths involved. For sure dealing with estate items can be a nightmare. It is very possible that it is not registered and was just being passed from friend to family so has not been an issue (other than running around a state that requires a license without a license, not sure how they did that). But, selling it outside family now means that Connor must get this sorted out before selling it. ESPECIALLY if it is going out of state.

Really sorry you've had a rough go of it. You've made a great choice with camper selection, as you can tell lots of good people here....join in the coffee thread.

Deals are out there....but with things the way they are, dont' forget to look at 'new' either, the price difference isn't as big as you think AND they hold their value incredibly well....for as long as I can remember and I've been here for over a decade now :D

Mods this post by Cary might be a good sticky, in re: recent new interest in for sales..."contact CI when you become a new owner"...

Save folks some time later it might.
