Thanks. It’s in a very picturesque area. This is the view from my front window.

You know what I love...the fact that you already have your trucks on the window sill and are making it your home.

It looks like a perfect sunny morning for you to settle inn. Don't forget the Berkie is happening in a week over in Cable Wisconsin.

There will be soo many places for you to check out. The Apostle Islands in Bayfield WI, Door County, Mineral Point, the famous Gravity Hill by Shullsburg, the Capitol building in Madison, New Galrus Brewery, Al Capones hideout in Couderay WI, Johsnsonville Brats where Charlie Murphy is cooking, go to see the amazing bathrooms at the John MIchael Kohler center, there is the Pabst theater, the Calatrava in Milwaukee, ...the list goes on and on

All I have is small decorative objects. I sold all of my furniture because it wouldn’t fit in the motor home. I made an offer on the house which included a lot of furniture so I’m able to live comfortable.

The only other time I was in Wisconsin was to pick up my Camp-Inn. I plan on selling the motor home and continue exploring in the Raindrop.

If you feel like company sometimes, check out tearjerkers.net. Gatherings in Wisc, Illinois, Minnesota might appeal.

I registered my van Wednesday. It’s good to have Wisconsin plates so I don’t appear as an outsider. People in Wisconsin and especially in the country are very polite. I really got tired of the rude people in Seattle and especially the rioting and looting.

I don’t feel that badmouthing the people, politics, or tax policies of different cities or states helps in community building around our camping and campers.

Can we get back to the regular off-topic stuff without insulting people or places?

Not a moderator, just a concerned community member.

Let's try and keep things non-camping-related out of the conversations going forward OK?

Arson doubled in two years and assaults are up 40%. That is not insulting it’s facts published by Seattle.gov. It might not be the most pleasant subject however it was my reality living there.

Lots of facts out there. This forum however is for subjects related to Camp-In trailers and camping.

    Quite right, facts are facts.

My post was primarily in reaction to some other contents that were withdrawn. Nothing to see now.

I’m sorry for your experience. We’ve experienced some of the same, which I hope and believe will improve over time. I think many cities are challenged in our current climate, and some of that comes to residents of those cities in ways we don’t want.

My point is that we participate in this forum for reasons of our common experience in camping. The day that political statements about us and them become normalized in this forum would mark a big change in how I personally think about participation. As far as I can read we’re not there, and I hope we don’t go there.

All best wishes Tour931 in your move the the friendly environments of Wisconsin. I have some great memories of living there as a young child… loved it. On the other hand, we’re unlikely to join you there, as my better half thinks that anything under 80-deg is too cold for camping!

I agree with Seth. All forums are created in order for like minded individuals to share a common interest in a specific subject. Politics of any kind don't belong here. Let's keep it that way please.

For what it is worth, I want to avoid most political discussion as well. In general our culture has become so divided that people assume that you hate them if you simply have a different opinion. I have had conversations where I said "The sky is blue" responded by some one saying "It's azure you idiot!" --- But sometimes, we all accidentally drop our guard and might say something. Particulalry in a thread that is long running as this one has been. I think it has gotten off the OP's intended conversation 3 pages ago.

I think there may be a compromise. I hope we can all agree civilized discourse is acceptable - even if it is about religion or politics, as long as it remains respectful. Obviously, once it turns abusive the person who crossed that line needs to apologize, delete the post. If it is a repeat offense, perhaps other actions may be needed. I'll leave that to smarter people than me to figure out.

I would suggest that perhaps we consider creation of a "campfire" thread , where any conversation you may have over a campfire would be appropriate...as long as they don't violate rule #1. If you as an individual wish to completely avoid the possibility of seeing something you won't like, then simply know that thread is one you should probably avoid.

I understand the opinion that if this forum becomes political it would change it , and I tend to agree. As I get older, especially in these uncertain times, I do not want to be triggered. But just by having this discussion, it has already been changed the forum...now with every post, some one will let their finger linger over the delete button...because that post MIGHT offend some one.

I'm sitting here right now asking myself I should delete these thoughts...see my point?

I have seen other posts that were political and opposite of my beliefs. The correct thing to do was just not respond which is what I did.

Can we post about the weather? Can I mention it’s 30F and snowing without getting into the global warming debate? Can I mention I had Covid19 without getting into an argument over politics?

In another forum we have a Morning Cup Of Coffee and Weather Thread. It’s currently 1,446 pages and people check in almost everyday. A typical post might be “38F and overcast, Folgers brewing and I’m going into town to get the John Deere fuel filters.”

If this forum is limited to just camping it will continue to be slow. Open one thread to general talk and people will come here more often and start to post more about camping.

I have taken long camping trips in the past 2 years and not posted about them simple because I don’t come here daily. Instead I post on my travels on a firearms forum. Others post on their travels also as some are full timers.

What are the forums goals here?

John Deere! Enemies of Right to Repair they are!

To everything...some one will be offended. Learning to not hit reply or simply ignore is difficult. I'm guilty as charged.

So, all joking aside....how can we move forward from this? I'm sure there are some who are rolling their eyes at it all....I'm turning into one of them...

@Moderators - would you support creation of such a thread with some slightly more relaxed policies -- obviously nothing extreme, and open to scrutany for abusive behavior...
