We are looking to get a vent cover to prevent rain in the cabin since have experienced at least one night of rain on just about all of our trips. I have searched this forum but have found only very old posts regarding covers. So, the question is Maxxair or Dometic Fantastic fan cover? Tips? Personal experiences?
Thanks in advance for any advice.

Are you looking for one of the domes that covers the crank open?

I bought a maxair cover and put suction cups on it instead of mounting it to the vent itself. It sticks nicely to the roof when stationary...look ugly as sin. I wouldn't want one on full time.

Another option is to upgrade to one that is self-closing in the event of rain....

Thanks. Yes, its to cover a crank open. Suction cups sounds like a great idea as I don't want it on full time either.

Been wondering if anyone has ideas that would work with a sunroof? I don't have a fan on my TD.
    Thanks.

Is this what you are inquiring about? I have the Rainmatic fan but I found that it would close during, wait for it...... rain. The result was no fresh air. With the vent cover the Rainmatic still closes but it needs to be a really heavy blowing storm. The cover clips on with four pins ( about a minute). I’ve made a number of trips at interstate speed (75 and less). I tried the white but I think the grey looks better.

You know, that actually doesn't look bad. The rain-o-matic (which I upgraded too) is nice, and certainly would have saved me from at least 1 soaked set of sheets. But the rain-o-matic doesn't stand up to hail very well. This vent cover is much more sturdy.

I love the bottle opener, and can see the use for cleat -- Whats the other addition on the side?

You might be referring to a stainless steel thermos mount. I have two one quart Unovac stainless steel thermos that I fill with coffee. They mount inverted with a spigot and cup holder. I’d send a picture but my camper is in my garage. Maybe later.
