Decided to test out a cold weather camp trip in the 550. Had a blast. Had the entire campground to ourselves for the majority of the trip. Not a typical campground we would visit (sites are really open and close to eachother), but it was 45 mins from our house, on the river, open year round and we knew it would be pretty empty so we gave it a go. The furnace was very welcome in the sub freezing temps! Lots of hanging out by the fire and watching movies on the TV. Very relaxing, peaceful trip.

Made a new friend as well ;)

Looks nice and peaceful, and cold ❄. Brave souls. A tufted titmouse??

The very friendly bird in my hand is a "Gray Jay" / "Canada Jay".

Ah, yes, much too big for a titmouse. How fun.

Also known as a "Camp Robber". I had never seen a bird (aside from french fry crazed parking lot seagulls), be so friendly and timid towards humans. He was constantly landing on me and just hanging around camp.

That one could be dangerous - give it a WIDE berth...

I agree, but Upper or lower berth?

We're 550 folk, we know nothing of upper or lower...

  12. We also call them Whiskey Jacks up here, and if you're careless, they will swipe a bite of fish right off your fork!

Beautiful! We recently camped at LaPine State Park and it was cold in the morning!! What kind of pop-up is that??

Very nice! It definitely gets cold there.

The canopy is an ABC Canopy brand. It is a commercial quality and it is very good quality. It puts all the others I've seen to shame. The thickness of the canopy and the steel legs is great. I highly recommend this one. They are retailing right now for about $250. They come with 4 walls as well to make it a full tent. The storage bag is huge and has more than enough room to stuff it all back into it.

We got ours on a sale for $190

Thanks! Looks nice but I'm holding out for something more light weight.

It is definitely a heavy canopy, that is for sure.

Bojanet, just a suggestion, but you may want to browse the "Lots of opinions on Canopies | Unofficial Camp-Inn Forum"
thread. It was started years ago; so possibly many of the canopy suggestions simply no longer exist; or have been updated by the manufacturer to a different version. But there might be a suggested canopy choice in there which will fit your requirements. Have fun finding "the perfect canopy for you".
