Sub Outback Parking Brake

Discussion in 'Towing & Tow Vehicles' started by Warren Mary Ellen, Jun 21, 2020.

  1. Anyone with a Subaru Outback have any issues with the electronic parking brake? We have a 2012 model. Went somewhere for the day yesterday and the parking brake is not engaging now. On the dashboard, the light that tells you the parking is engaged is flashing and the ABS light is on as well. Got it home and calling the dealership in the morning. Looks there was a recall on some models from that year over the parking brake, but we haven't been notified about that.

Not me however mine is a 2017.

  3. Turns out one of the cables to the battery, the one to the positive was corroded. The sensors that were displayed were due to this. Replaced the cable, reset the sensors and we are good now.

Glad it was what sounds like a relatively simple (and hopefully) inexpensive fix.
