I just got back from a weekend at Elk Neck State Park which is located at the far northern reaches of the Chesapeake Bay. It is located on a peninsula with the Elk River on one side and the mouth of the Susquehanna on the other. There are several loops available - only one with electric which is also furthest away from the water. I stayed on Miles loop just a couple of spots up from the waterfront. A buddy of mine reserved the adjacent spot so we had decent room and space from other neighbors. It happened to be a beautiful weekend with highs in the mid 70s and abundant sun - this coming off of the rainiest June-Sept on record for this area.

The highlight of staying in this park is the short hike out to the lighthouse. It's just over a mile and on a clear day, one can see for many miles down the main channel of the bay. After our hike, we headed back up to Northeast for a lovely lunch at Port House Grill. This quaint town has several nice restaurants on Main Street. We'll definitely go back to Elk Neck.

My wife would like to go back again which is pretty high praise for the place. This weekend headed to Pocomoke on the eastern shore. Will post a review - glad you've encouraged it!

Ben- Will you be camping at Shad Landing or Milburn Landing? We just got home (today) from our Chesapeake Bay Chapter Tearjerker’s Gathering at Milburn Landing. We meet there every year about this time, and we all love the campground at Milburn Landing. It’s small, and works well for our group. Since it seems you are camping at some of the campgrounds where they hold gatherings, maybe you’ll consider joining us sometime. It’s a fun group of people, and a very active chapter, meeting no less than 8 times a year, usually in Maryland or Delaware. Here’s a link to their chapter on the Tearjerker’s forum, just in case you are interested! TEARJERKERS • Login

Hi Jim and Jamie, We were at the Shad Landing campground. I'll have to go ahead and post that review. Thanks for the invite to the tearjerkers local group. I'll have to give that some thought. Ben
